Asian Handicap
Asian handicaps are betting sites that typers reach for quite often, because they bring with them a lot of benefits. Below we explain all the most important questions about the Asian handicap - what kind of bet is this, what is the mechanism of its operation and what are its advantages. At the end of the article there is also a settlement table, with which you can easily check what the settlement of the Asian Handicap will be for a particular match result.
Asian Handicap-what is it?
The Asian Handicap is abbreviated AH or AHO this type of betting is called Asians .
The Asian Handicap is a type of bet that aims to level the odds of the competing sides in a given match, which is achieved by adding virtual goals/points/gems, etc. the weaker side or subtracting their stronger side. Asian Handicap is a two-way bet, that is, only 2 results are possible here – in the basic version it is winning hosts or guests, no possibility of a draw . The settlement of the bet takes place after taking into account the virtual points, that is, the winning party is the one who gets more combined real and virtual points. In a situation where the result turns out to be a draw, the bookies pay the players a refund of the bet.
As for the Asian handicap, it is also characteristic that there are not only whole points, but also half and quarter values (e.g. -2.5, +0.5, -0.75). This treatment significantly reduces the possibility of a remission result, which we will explain later in the text.
How the Asian handicap works-examples
To understand how the Asian handicap works, it is best to look at specific examples. Let's take the Liverpool F. C. game to the workshop. – Everton F. C., where the favorite is the host of the match. Suppose we want to bet on the winner of the favorite, but the odds for this event are very low, so we choose the Asian handicap negative. For example, our choice falls on a handicap (-1.5), while the match ends with a result of 3:1. The bet turns out to be won, because even after deducting 1.5 goals to the hosts, the result of the match means their win, i.e. 1.5:1. However, if, for example, the Asian handicap (-2.0) was placed, the match would virtually have a draw, i.e. 1:1, that is, the bookmaker would refund the bet. In turn, a negative handicap of a higher value would result in a loss, e.g. AH (-3.0) would result in a score of 0:1, and so the player would lose the bet.
On the other hand, the typer may want to bet on the win of the party considered to be weaker, i.e. the so-called underdog. In this case, you can bet Everton win by using a positive Asian handicap of e.g. (+2.5). This means that during the settlement of the bet to the actual result obtained by the guests will need to add 2.5 goals. If the match ended with a result of, for example, 3:1, the bet will be won, because after taking into account the virtual goals, the result of the match is 3:3.5. An asian Handicap of (+2.0) would result in a return (3:3) and a lower handicap, e.g. (+1.5) is a losing bet (3:2.5).
Look out! Quarter Asian accounts are a bit more complicated, which we'll explain in a separate chapter.
At the end of the article is also
table of accounts
in which you can check how a specific Asian handicap should be settled for a specific match score.
Asian Handicap-types
Asian Handicap occurs in many varieties, so below we will discuss what are the differences in individual subtypes of Asians.
AH (0 – - DNB
Popular bet without a draw the draw no Bet (DNB) is actually an Asian handicap with a value of "0". In this case we do not add or subtract virtual points instead, we remove the ability to draw a match. If the match ends in a draw, the bookmakers refund the bet. Since it is a two-way bet, the odds of winning one of the parties are higher than for the same result in bets on the winner of 1X2.
Asian Handicap overall
The Asian Handicap can consist in adding or subtracting whole points, that is, values + / - 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc. Therefore, virtual points can make the result a draw, but of course this situation causes a refund of the bet.
Asian half Handicap
This type of Asian handicap means that we add or subtract points with half values to the result of the meeting, e.g. +/- 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 etc. Changing the result by "halves" makes here also (as in the DNB plant) the meeting cannot end in a draw . The Asian half handicap is very popular.
Asian quarter Handicap
To understand what the Asian quarter handicap is, you need to know that it actually consists of 2 betting shops . The BET in this case is divided into 2 equal parts, and each of them is used to bet on a different handicap. For example, the Asian handicap (-0.25) is a set containing a bet of AH (0) and AH (-0.5), and the handicap (+0.75) is AH (+1.0) and AH (+0.5). The Asian quarter handicap is 2 bets., there are situations in which 1 of them is a winner or a loser, and from the second one a return is made (this is when a handicap leads to a draw.) In this case, the bookmakers pay out the winnings from half of the bet accordingly, or half of the bet is their profit, and half of the bet is refunded.
Take, for example, the match between Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona, which ends with a result of 1:2. Let's assume that a player placed a bet on the Catalans winning with AH (-0.75), that is, he actually placed 2 bookmakers ' bets: AH (-0.5) and AH (-1.0). The first bet gives a result of 1:1.5, that is, the bet is won, and the second-a draw result of 1: 1, so the player will also receive a refund of half the bet.
Asian Handicap in various sports
Asian handicap betting is available for sports such as m.in. football, basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, baseball, tennis, table tennis, slag or e-sports. In principle, they can be shared wherever the outcome of the competition it is decided by the difference in points earned by the participating parties. So let's see what opportunities are available in various popular sports in Poland:
- football - here players can bet a regular handicap on the final result, but also on the result of the first half and the result of the second half of the match. An alternative asian handicap in football can concern, for example, various shots (and here it can also be about the whole meeting or a selected half of the match), the number of fouls, the number of shots fired, the number of shots burned, etc.
- basketball - the Asian handicap usually concerns the score of the entire match, its selected half or quarter. The offer of handicaps for the outcome of the meeting is much wider here than in football due to the high number of points earned in basketball matches – handicaps with values above +/- 20 points are available here.
- ice hockey - in hockey matches, the handicap usually refers to the result of the entire match, and the additional Asian handicap may refer to the number of goals or victory in the selected period (at least the first).
- tennis - there is a handicap on the number of sets (bet on the winner of the match) and a handicap on the number of gems (bet on the winner of the selected set or the whole match – this is the total number of gems won by a given tennis player).
- volleyball - the basic handicap refers to the number of sets in the entire match or small points scored in the match. The additional Asian handicap may refer to the number of points in the selected set.
- slag the Asian handicap is about which player gets the most points in a league match. A point Handicap is added to one of the sides of the H2H bet.
As you can see, the Asian handicap does not have to concern the outcome of the entire meeting, and therefore who will win the match. However, usually bookmakers in Poland provide a wider selection of handicapped bets in the case of football and only for the most important matches.
Interestingly, the Asian handicap can also be found in the offer for non-sports events such as the presidential election and the Oscars. However, this is extremely rare – such bookmakers can be found only in the case of bookmakers ' offers for the most popular events.
Asian Handicap-advantages
At this point, it should already be clear what the Asian handicap is and how to understand its individual types. But why are these types of bookmakers so popular? There are several reasons. Above all the margins that bookmakers impose on Asians are much lower than for other bets on the same results, and this means, of course higher courses . For example, a bet AH (+0.5) is the equivalent of a "double chance"bet, in which the player bets the result "draw or win". The settlement of both bets will be identical in every situation, but the method of calculating their odds is different and this is in favor of the Asian Handicap.
A huge plus of Asians is also that they are 2-way bookmakers, so their correct betting is easier. The absence of a tie means that the probability of hitting the event and getting a win is higher than, for example, in European handicaps or ordinary 1x2 bets. This type of betting is therefore less risky for players.
In addition, whether it is a European or asian handicap, all these bookmakers serve to level the odds of the parties involved in the meeting, so that allow you to type the win of the favorite at a higher rate than the main bets on the winner allow. It is obvious that in matches where there is a large disparity between rival teams or players, the odds for the stronger are very low – often their betting is even unprofitable. This is where the Asian handicap comes in first. It allows you to type the win of the favorite and achieve a decent profit – and the more goals we expect, the higher the handicap we can bet (which is obvious, for example, on the handicap -2.5 bookmakers put higher odds than on the handicap -1.5). The Asian handicap it also allows you to type the underdog's win and achieve a win even if his opponent wins (of course, this depends on the specific situation and the chosen handicap). This possibility is real especially when it seems that the underdog, if he loses, it is a small number of goals.
The Asian quarter Handicap has the added advantage of having 2 Bets, so the bet is also split into 2 parts. Therefore, losing one of the bets means losing only half of the bet, while the second bet can bring a win or a return (although losing is also possible). Betting on quarters is a way to diversifying the risk of total loss .
In contrast, the total Asian handicap guarantees a refund when the match ends in a draw. Betting on this type of bet is therefore worth considering when we have our favorite, but the draw result also seems quite likely.
Asian and European Handicap
However, the Asian handicap is not the only type of handicap offered by bookmakers. The second, although much less popular type of such a bet is the European handicap. These types of bookmakers are referred to in the bookmakers ' offer by the abbreviation EH. They differ from Asians primarily in that they also allow betting on a draw. The European Handicap is therefore a 3-way bet, which means that the possible options for typing are: win, draw, lose.
The second very important difference is that while the Asian handicap is often half or quarter value, the European handicap allows you to subtract or add only entire virtual points . EH betting does not eliminate the draw and is no longer as beneficial to players as Asian handicaps, hence much less interest in playing this way.
Bookmakers very often provide both Asian handicap and European handicap in the offer for one meeting. To distinguish them, just look at how many Result options a given bet has. If there are only 2 options – then the Asian handicap, if 3 – the European handicap.
What recording formats do bookmakers use?
Bookmakers can variously refer to handicapped bookmakers. Take for example total Asian handicap -1. It can be written as AH (-1.0), but also as -1:0 (which means that 1 goal will be deducted from the hosts). The Asian handicap half , where one of the teams receives half a virtual goal, can be marked (+0.5), but also +1/2:0.
The Asian handicap quarter it can be saved up to 3 ways. For example, the bet AH (+0.25) can also be denoted as AH +1/4:0, but also as AH +0.5, 0. Each time, it will mean that the bet consists of 2 bets, i.e. a bet that gives a half-goal advantage to one of the teams and a DNB bet.
Another thing is that some bookmakers also use a provision that can mislead some players. Well, it happens that in the menu there is a notation of the type -1.5/+1.5 (such a bet is sometimes referred to as an alternative Asian handicap). However, this is not about any separate bet, only that the bookmaker offers 2 different options for placing a bet, namely:
- a bet where 1.5 points are deducted from the first team,
- a bet that adds 1.5 points to the other team.
These are two separate betting shops. It must also be remembered that in a given bet, points are always subtracted or added only once to only one of the teams - we cannot simultaneously add a certain number of points to one team and subtract a certain number of points from the other team.
Asian Handicap-standings
This way of playing may initially seem quite complicated, but players quickly understand how the Asian handicap works and which result will turn out in a particular case to be a winner, a loser, and when the turn will occur. For ease of use, we have prepared a I will download, thanks to which you can quickly see what result the Asian handicap will bring in the case of a certain outcome of the meeting .
The table, divided into 3 parts, takes into account every possible asian handicap from -2.00 to +2.00, including handicap AH 0.0. For example, if +2.00 appears in the first column, it means that the team that the player is typing to win has 2 virtual advantage points. The second column tells about the actual outcome of the event, that is, whether the team the player is typing actually won, lost or tied the match. The third indicates how the bet will be settled – whether the player will receive a win, a bet refund, lose the bet or the settlement will be mixed (which applies to quarter bets).
