Sport sponsorship and Africane law
As you can see, legal bookmakers strongly support African sport – most betting companies are not limited to one club or one sport. This is, of course, a fully permitted activity, and the so-called. Gambling Act allows information about sponsorship by the bookmaker . Such promotion of sport sponsorship should consist in the presentation of information which contains: name or other distinguishing sign of the sponsor .
But why is sports sponsorship such an interesting way for bookmakers to promote? Marketing based on sponsoring, for example, a football club or an MMA Gala is not one of the cheapest solutions. The answer to this question should also be sought in the Gambling Act. It turns out that although classical advertising, e.g. on television or radio, is not completely prohibited, serious restrictions are imposed on it. In addition to restrictions on the substantive layer of advertising material, bookmakers are prohibited from advertising their services from 6.00 to 22.00. It must be admitted that this provision severely limits the audience to which advertising of betting shops can reach, but the law provides for an exception to the above rule. The legislator stated that if the advertisement is related to sport sponsorship by a given bookmaker, it is excluded from the media ban from 6.00 – 22.00 that is, it can be presented at any time of the day or night.
Moreover, advertising of bookmakers is also not allowed in public places, but sponsorship of sports works here in the same way as in the case of promotion in the media. Namely excluded are mass and sporting events where the bookmaker sponsors the event, the participating team or players, or a sports association that is associated with the event.
Sports sponsorship – what is it?
A betting company that enters into a sponsorship agreement with, for example, a club or sports organization undertakes to finance or co-finance the activities of this entity. What the bookmaker gives you is simply money . Of course, the value of such contracts can vary greatly and it depends on many factors, for example, the position in the table of a particular team or league in which it plays, the type of sponsorship (for example, whether the bookmaker becomes the main, title or "serial" sponsor), the established scope of promotional activities, etc. However, the amount of money provided for in the sponsorship agreement often indicates the size of the betting company and its development potential.
What are the benefits of sponsoring sports to bookmakers? For example, if a betting company is a sponsor of a football club, it usually wins the right to put your logo on the players ' clothing (for example, on the front or back of a T-shirt or on gloves). It is also common to promote the bookmaker on the occasion of matches-e.g. on advertising bands around the pitch, on conference walls or on tickets to matches . In addition, the sponsorship agreement most often contains provisions for the promotion of the bookmaker on the official website of the club (league, sports organization, etc.), on her social media profiles and various promotional materials . It is also important to note that sponsorship is often associated with actions that activate fans which are carried out by the bookmaker and the entity supported by it.
